QUALITY EDUCATION
More than 35 award-winning public and private schools call Carrollton home. Carrollton/Farmers Branch ISD, Lewisville ISD, Dallas ISD and Plano ISD are all within the boundaries of the City. Most colleges and universities in the Dallas-Fort Worth area are within a 30-minute drive.
Of Carrollton’s population 18 years and older, 25% have attained a bachelor’s degree or higher.
Carrollton’s school population, with more than 24,000 students, consists of approximately 46% elementary students, 18% middle school students, and 36% high school students. Carrollton also has a large private school enrollment with 2,255 students from prekindergarten through high school levels.
Carrollton is served by five nationally recognized public high schools.
- Creekview High School, Hebron High School and Newman Smith High School's high ranking earned them eligibility to display a U.S. News High School Award Badge recognizing educational excellence.
- The average ACT score for Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD remains higher than the national average.
- R.L. Turner High School earned the #1 ranking for Academic Performance by the Educational Resource Group (ERG)
- Ranchview High School holds an International Baccalaureate World School designation and offers both Middle Years and Diploma Programs.
HEALTHCARE
Carrollton Regional Medical Center Is an accredited, full-service, 216-bed acute care facility. The Center includes 24-hour emergency services, a Cancer Care Center, a 16-bed Intensive Care Unit, Rehab and Therapy Center, and a Women's Imaging Center.
Carrollton is also served by an LTAC (long term acute care) hospital:

CQ Press, a division of SAGE Publications, recently ranked instances of crime in Carrollton 44 points below the national average for cities with populations of 75,000 or more.

Shopping and Dining: Carrollton enjoys restaurants to whet any appetite all over town. The menu features original fare of Italian, Mexican, Continental, Japanese, Mediterranean, and Thai cuisine. Carrollton’s own Historic Downtown provides ample options for both restaurants and retail. Nearby major malls include the Stonebriar Mall, the Dallas Galleria, The Shops At Willow Bend, Vista Ridge Mall, and the 1.9 million square foot Grapevine Mills Outlet Mall.
Parks: With more than 1,230 developed acres, Carrollton’s park land per capita is one of the highest in the Metroplex.
Rosemeade Rainforest Aquatic Complex: The Rainforest features water platform toys, slides, and a 200-foot lazy river. It has a 50-meter Olympic-size pool and a 25-meter short course, 3 large multi-story slides, and an impressive 600-gallon dump bucket.
W.J. Thomas Splash Park: Come sit under the mature shade trees or picnic on a wooden deck with rolling green lawns and a playground nestled in a quiet neighborhood. Located within easy walking distance from the popular W.J. Thomas and Josey Ranch sports fields, it is the perfect place for free water play and family picnics.
Trails: Carrollton offers 28 miles of trails and walking paths for those who enjoy spending time outdoors or want to utilize them as an alternate means of transportation.
Indian Creek Golf Club: Ranked among the top public golf courses in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, Indian Creek Golf Club offers 36 holes of championship golf. The two distinctly different 18-hole courses are situated along the picturesque Trinity River.
Oak Creek Tennis Center: With 12 lighted courts and USPTA Certified professionals on staff, the Tennis Center is a great place for men’s, women’s, mixed, and senior teams to compete.
Fun & Recreation: Carrollton offers two newly remodeled recreation centers. Crosby hosts multiple classes and includes new fitness equipment, a boxing gym, games area, basketball gym, and updated locker and restroom areas. Rosemeade has two gyms, full-sized basketball and volleyball courts, weight and fitness rooms, a dance studio, game room, four racquetball courts, and refreshment areas.
A.W. Perry Homestead Museum: This historic gem gives visitors a glimpse into life as it was in north central Texas at the turn of the 20th Century and offers guided tours, classroom activities, and several annual special events.
Library: Carrollton’s two top-rated public library locations feature a variety of offerings, from reading programs and story times for preschoolers to computer literacy courses for seniors.
Carrollton Senior Center: The newly remodeled and expanded facility includes a dance floor, meeting and exercise rooms, boardwalk piers, a hiking/biking trail, scenic views, and a full-service kitchen. Senior adults ages 50+ have access to a variety of leisure activities and programs.
